Liquid Diet Recipes Will Help You Stay Fit and Healthy
Unlike before, it seems that more and more people have developed unhealthy eating habits. Canned and processed
foods are heavily advertised and marketed everywhere.
At present, these food products are readily available in the market. Most people, especially those living in
urban areas, prefer them instead of eating organic and natural food items.
Eating processed foods regularly will significantly increase your body’s salt, sugar, fat, and cholesterol
levels. Harmful toxins will soon accumulate on your tissues and organs. If you continue to go with this diet,
sooner or later, your body will become vulnerable to disease-causing pathogens which can cause cardiovascular and
digestive disorders.
If you feel that you have eaten too many non-organic and processed foods for the past years, this may be the
right time for you to make some drastic changes on your diet before something goes wrong. A perfect way to lower
your cholesterol and shed those unwanted fats, but still have an adequate supply of vitamins and nutrients is to go
on a liquid diet.
Liquid diet recipes are very economical and relatively easy to make. Most of the ingredients are natural and
organic, free of food additives and preservatives. These recipes are usually recommended by nutritionists and
dieticians to individuals who want to lose weight because it provides an adequate amount of calories and proteins
without making you fat. A liquid diet program has no specific or fixed time table which means that you can take
liquids for just a few days or even as long as 1 ½ months.
Liquid Diets for Digestive Problems
Many people go on a liquid diet for different reasons. Some individuals have digestive conditions which makes it
hard for them to digest solid or even semi-solid foods. A perfect alternative would be liquid or soft foods which
only needs minimal mechanical digestion. Liquid diet is also indicated in most surgical patients. Preoperative and
postoperative instructions of a physician include taking clear or semi-thick liquids. The digestive system is
expected not to fully recover after surgery and therefore it cannot handle solid foods. Patients with moderate to
severe dehydration are also recommended to go on a liquid diet. As mentioned earlier, individuals who want to lose
weight or take less fat and calories usually opt to have a liquid diet.
Going on a liquid diet doesn’t mean that you only have to ingest water and soup for the rest of the day. In
reality, you can choose from different varieties of recipes. You can make fruit juices, shakes, purees, and many
more. You are free to experiment on different ingredients which you can add to your recipe. Most common liquid diet
recipes include lemon, orange, pineapple, and grapefruit juices. You can add different kinds of syrups to your
fruit juices to make them more delicious. Gelatin and smooth ice creams are common desserts of a liquid diet. Of
course, don’t forget to make chicken, pork, and vegetable soups.
To make your liquid diet more healthy and nutritious, dieticians recommend using organic fruits and vegetables
for your recipe. Today, the use of canned fruits and vegetables available in supermarkets are getting common.
Fruits and vegetables lose their essential vitamins and nutrients when processed and canned, so it’s much better to
use raw natural fruits and vegetables.
Drink Plenty of Water
When you’ve decided to go on a liquid diet, the most important thing to do is to drink 8-10 glasses of filtered
water per day. In the morning, you can have lemon juice or any fruit juice with a glass of water. Just squeeze a
half lemon into a glass of water. Add honey for extra flavor and drink it. For breakfast, you can also take fruit
shakes and purees. You can make a fruit shake by combining half cup of apple, half cup orange, ¼ cup yogurt, one
carrot, and honey or maple syrup in a blender. Blend them until they become liquid. Pour it to a cup and serve. You
can also add 1 large banana, pineapples, or 1 cup of strawberries mixed with 1 tsp vanilla extract or 2 cups of
milk. It’s up to you to decide which fruits you want to blend.
You can still drink fruit juices during lunch and dinner. However, your main dish should be a vegetable or
chicken soup. Cabbage soup is the most common soup. First, sauté some tomatoes, garlic and onions in a pan. Add
cabbage or any of your favorite vegetable. Add 4-5 glasses of water and broth. Enhance flavor with salt, basil,
pepper or other seasonings. Boil for a minimum of 25 minutes and you’re done.
Liquid diet recipes are rich in essential nutrients, low in cholesterol, and helps the body to detoxify. It will
help you to shed many pounds while staying healthy. Taking this diet will also rejuvenate you and increase your
energy.
